Earlox™ magnets are used as a preventive measure to help defend your ears after they have been drained. In order to stop the cauliflower ear from recurring, it's recommended to apply pressure to prevent blood or fluid from re-accumulating in the space between the skin and cartilage of the ear.
Earlox™ doesn't work on previously calcified ears. They're a preventative before the cauliflower ear hardens. You can use them on tender ears that have not been filled with fluid yet.
What Is Cauliflower Ear?
An auricular hematoma occurs when the outer part of the ear is subjected to blunt trauma or repeated friction, causing blood and other fluids to accumulate between the skin and the cartilage. If not drained properly within 24-48 hours, it will clot and calcify causing a hard lump to form. This condition is common in contact sports like Jiu Jitsu, MMA, Wrestling, Boxing, Rugby, and Water Polo.

Once you’ve drained the ear, sterilize your Earlox™ with alcohol or alcohol wipes.
Place one magnet, with the Earlox logo facing outwards, lightly on the area that was drained to prevent the cavity from refilling.
Slowly place the other magnet on the back of your ear.
Wear the magnets for the next 24-72 hours, or until the swelling goes away.
While sleeping with the magnets, make sure they are secured properly.
If wearing the magnets during training, wear protective headgear to prevent injury, and ensure the magnets are securely in-place.
